Taib Bank is an investment bank with eight offices in six countries, headquartered in Bahrain. The Bank wished to build its own head office and the architectural challenge was to design a building that would work on a very tight site constrained on three sides by tall high rises. Due to the natural climate in Bahrain energy efficient design is essential and a client priority. This was achieved through a perfectly developed glazing solution that made use of the minimal direct sunlight from the North by utilizing a curved, glazed facade. The result is a dynamic, slender signature tower with wide stunning views across the Arabian Gulf. Special features of the US$10 million Taib Bank building include: |

The brief for this private villa called for a traditional courtyard house with swimming pool that would not be overlooked by neighbouring tower blocks. The solution was to incorporate the pool, with integral circular Jacuzzi, at heart of the building under a stained glass skylight. Other features included traditional carved Bahraini doors and exterior panels, giving the house a highly individual and yet intrinsically Bahraini feel. |
